Wired Equivalent Privacy
An obsolete security algorithm for 802.11 wireless networks first ratified in 1997. Suffered from several critical security issues, allowing it to be easily cracked. Made obsolete with the introduction of WPA in 2003 and made fully deprecated by 2004.
